Biomass conversion technology refers to the technology of converting biomass raw materials (including plant materials, agricultural and forestry waste, organic waste, etc.) into energy, fuels, chemicals, or materials through physical, chemical, biological, or thermochemical methods. Its core objective is to utilize renewable organic carbon resources to replace fossil resources and achieve sustainable energy and product production. The upstream of biomass conversion technology is the raw material supply and pretreatment end, including the planting, collection, sorting, and pretreatment (crushing, drying) of sustainable biomass (such as energy crops, agricultural and forestry waste, and urban organic waste). The midstream is the core conversion plant, which uses biochemical, thermochemical, or physicochemical processes to convert raw materials into primary energy products (such as biogas, bio-oil, syngas, and fuel ethanol). Downstream demand mainly stems from fuel substitution driven by energy security policies, cleaner industrial energy under emission reduction pressures, and the resource utilization of waste driven by circular economy goals. The entire industrial chain is driven by climate policies, energy prices, and waste management regulations, aiming to convert low-value biomass into high-value energy and products.
