A four-arm laparoscopic surgical robot is a robot-assisted surgical platform built around a surgeon console, a patient-side cart with four independently controlled robotic arms, and a high-definition 3D imaging system. Several small incisions are made on the patient?s body, through which the robotic arms manipulate a laparoscope and miniaturised wristed instruments to perform minimally invasive surgery. With four arms, a single surgeon can perform most manoeuvres independently in complex anatomical regions such as the abdomen, pelvis, prostate, gynaecologic organs or thoracic cavity, reducing reliance on bedside assistants. Such systems are widely used in urology, gynaecology, general surgery, thoracic and hepatobiliary surgery to enable smaller incisions, less blood loss, less postoperative pain, faster recovery and higher precision and standardisation of complex minimally invasive procedures.
