Graphite thermal conductive film is a high-performance two-dimensional thermal management material primarily used for heat dissipation in electronic devices. Its core advantage lies in the ultra-high in-plane thermal conductivity of graphite crystals. While its thermal conductivity is generally moderate in the thickness direction, it enables rapid and uniform heat diffusion across a planar surface. Essentially, it is an anisotropic heat diffuser that significantly reduces hotspot temperatures and improves system temperature uniformity by rapidly dispersing localized hotspots over a larger area. The core demand stems from the fundamental contradiction between the trend towards lighter, thinner, and higher-performance electronic devices and the heat dissipation bottleneck. Specifically, this is driven by two factors: First, the soaring demand for power density. As chip computing power continues to increase, power consumption and heat generation grow exponentially, while internal space within devices becomes increasingly limited, rendering traditional metal heat dissipation solutions inadequate for high heat flux densities. Second, the need for temperature uniformity and reliability. Localized hotspots can directly lead to chip frequency reduction, performance degradation, or even damage. Graphite film, with its extremely high in-plane thermal conductivity, can rapidly diffuse heat laterally from hotspots to the entire device or a larger heatsink area, making it the most effective thin-film solution for achieving system temperature uniformity and ensuring stable operation. Third, space and design requirements: Graphite films are ultra-thin, flexible, and highly malleable, allowing them to perfectly fit complex internal structures with almost no extra space, satisfying the extreme pursuit of thinner and lighter devices in industrial design. The upstream supply chain for graphite thermal conductive films is highly specialized, with core components including high-performance polyimide films and other precursor materials, high-temperature graphitization and calendering equipment, and precision coating and composite technologies. Its downstream applications directly determine the performance and reliability of electronic products, primarily in consumer electronics (such as chip heat dissipation in smartphones, tablets, and ultra-thin laptops) and communication equipment (5G base station RF units). In 2024, the production volume of graphite thermal conductive films was approximately 80 million to 150 million square meters, with an average selling price of approximately US$5 to US$20 per square meter, a gross profit margin of approximately 25%, and a single-line capacity of 500,000 to 2 million square meters per year.
