The S-beam load cell is a weighing sensor with a special structure, named for its elastomer shape resembling the English letter S. It is a high-precision force-to-electricity conversion device primarily used for measuring tensile and compressive forces between solids. Working Principle and Various Classification Methods


The working principle of the S-beam load cell is based on the deformation of an elastomer. When an external force acts on the sensor, the elastomer of its S-shaped structure undergoes deformation, which in turn causes the resistance strain gauges on its surface to deform. This deformation leads to a change in resistance value, which is then converted into an electrical signal (voltage or current) by a measurement circuit. This realizes the conversion of external force into an electrical signal, enabling the measurement of tensile and compressive forces between solids.


S-beam load cells can be classified in various ways:
