Commonly used coating materials include carbide, nitride, carbonitride, oxide, boride, silicide, diamond and composite coatings. According to the characteristics of chemical bonds, these coating materials can be divided into metal bond type, co- Valence bond type and ionic bond type. The newly developed hard coatings include carbon nitride coatings (CNx), diamond-like coatings (DLC), AlCrN coatings, etc.; TiSiN coatings suitable for hard cutting, CrSiN coatings with lubricity, and super-resistant Oxidation ability AlCrSiN coating, etc.; there are other nitride coatings (TiN/NbN, TiN/VN, TiBoN), boride coatings (TiB2, CBN), etc. These coating knives have good high temperature stability and are suitable for High speed cutting use. The combination of physical vapor deposition and chemical vapor deposition can develop a new coated tool. The inner layer of the chemical vapor deposition coating can form a high bonding ability with the substrate, and the outer layer of the physical vapor deposition coating can reduce the cutting force, making the tool suitable for high-speed cutting. Compared with the above hard coatings, the coating of sulfide (MoS2, WS2) on high-speed steel is called soft coating, which is mainly used in the cutting of high-strength aluminum alloys, titanium alloys and some rare metals.
