Trapped Ionic Device, also known as an ion trap, is a device that uses an electric or magnetic field to trap and imprison ions (i.e. charged atoms or molecules) within a certain range, where the imprisonment of the ions is achieved in a vacuum and the ions are not in contact with the surface of the device.
